I hate to say this because it is so negative, but Portugal must be the worst team to watch that has ever won the European Championship.
Greece, who defeated Portugal in the final when the tournament was staged there in 2004, weren’t exactly easy on the eye.
But Fernando Santos’s side, who defeated France after extra-time in Saint-Denis on Sunday, weren’t exactly Barcelona or Real Madrid.
To be fair to them, they defended well and hit opposition teams on the counter attack effectively. But playing that containing game didn’t exactly get people off their seats.
In the first four games they didn’t manage to win in regulation time. They only qualified from their group in as one of the best third placed teams.
You are really looking for teams to go out and entertain at big competitions like Euro 2016 and for me they didn’t do that.
