RANGERS have won many domestic trophies over the years, with a world record 54 league title wins. They have also had seven treble-winning seasons in 1948-49, 1963-64, 1975-76, 1977-78, 1992-93, 1998-99 and 2002-03…

R. WILLIAMSON (Govan) As a young boy I was taken to my first Scottish Cup Final in 1964 when Rangers beat Dundee 3-1. Could you give me the goalscorers and did Rangers become treble-winners after their win against Dundee?

Rangers goals came from Jimmy Millar (2) and Ralph Brand. Dundee’s goal came from Kenny Cameron. Rangers did indeed win the treble during the 1963-64 season.

CURIOUS (Kilsyth) – I see we have re-vamped the Challenge Cup to include teams from other countries. I know that English teams played in the old Texaco and Anglo Scottish cups, but it this the first time Welsh and Irish sides have been involved?

Yes and no! It is the first time Welsh teams have been included. The Texaco Cup ran from season 1970-71 until 1974-75 and in its first two seasons included clubs from England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

The final three seasons involved only teams from Scotland and England. It was replaced by the Anglo Scottish Cup in 1975 which ran for six seasons with the first part a pre-season competition either side of the border to produce four clubs each who went into a two-leg knock-out competition, including the final.

Scottish clubs stopped participating in 1981 and the competition was re-born as the Football League Group Cup.

The Irn Bru Challenge Cup is innovative in also inviting Premier league U20s teams and teams from the Highland and Lowland Leagues to take part.

D. WATSON (Glasgow) – Do you have details of a high-scoring League match in the 1960s between Dunfermline and Hibs at East End Park.

There was a match on September 17, 1966, when Dunfermline lost 6-5 against Hibs at East End Park.

At one stage Hibs led 4-0 after 62 minutes but Dunfermline hit back to make it 4-2.

With 15 minutes to go the match looked all over when Hibs made it 5-2 but then Dunfermline hit back again with three goals in eight minutes to make it 5-5 with six minutes left to play.

In 89 minutes Scott of Hibs scored a late winner to cap a great match to make it 6-5 for Hibs.

Scorers for Dunfermline were Hunter, Robertson, Ferguson and Delaney (2) and for Hibs it was Cormack, Stevenson, Scott (2) and McGraw (2) and the attendance was 11,000.
