ANDY HALLIDAY was disappointed with a low-key second half showing from Rangers as Mark Warburton’s side eased to victory against East Stirlingshire on Friday night.

The midfielder put the Gers ahead after just ten minutes at Ochilview as he converted from the penalty spot and Josh Windass doubled the advantage before the break.

But it took until the final seconds for Warburton’s side to get their third goal of the night as striker Joe Dodoo scored on his debut for the Light Blues.

It was a straightforward 90 minutes for Rangers as they made it three wins from three games in the Betfred Cup and continued their preparations for the Premiership campaign.

But Halliday was frustrated that the Gers couldn’t maintain their levels after the break and make their dominance show on the scoreboard.

He said: “I thought the first 45 minutes was good. When you come to grounds like this and it is not your familiar surroundings of the 50,000 and the atmosphere you are used to you have to create your own intensity and atmosphere.

“First half, I thought we done that really well but I thought the second half was really disappointing.

“We still see this as our pre-season campaign and that is us three games into it now. It is three wins and more importantly three clean sheets.

“Fitness levels are really good. The new format is not really ideal towards the start of the season but it is something we have had to deal with and we have done that well.

“It is another victory and it is a valuable 90 minutes under our belt.

“It was just our overall play. There were far too many turnovers, we gave the ball away cheaply.

“Don’t get me wrong, we don’t try to make excuses, but the Astro was really dry. I think that did play a part in it.

“But it is the same for both teams and that second half performance wasn’t good enough.”
