CLAUDIO RANIERI is bracing himself for a stern test of his Leicester City players’ credentials at Celtic Park today.

The shock winners of the Barclays Premier League are in Glasgow to face the Hoops in the opening friendly of the glamour International Champions Cup.

The tournament also features Barcelona and Inter Milan.

And Foxes boss Ranieri is expecting Celtic to rise to the challenge of putting one over their English rivals.

He said: “Celtic are ahead of us. They have already played Champions League games. It is very good for us to increase our fitness and stamina.

“It will be a very, very important match to give us more experience because all the players are of international experience.

“I don’t see there will be a big gap because they are in good condition and we are starting now. The result is not important. It is important, though, that nobody is injured.”

Ranieri is still coming to terms with the departure of influential assistant manager Steve Walsh to Everton.

As the Premier League champions’ head of recruitment, Walsh was also responsible for unearthing many of the players who led the club to their shock title triumph.

But Ranieri rejected claims striker Leonardo Ulloa could be set to quit the King Power Stadium.

The Italian has already lost influential midfielder N’Golo Kante following a £30m raid by Chelsea.

Reports say the Argentinian is considering his Foxes future amid concerns he has dropped behind new signing Ahmed Musa in the pecking order.

But Ranieri said: “The player is very, very happy. He works in training sessions and the last match very well. N’Golo Kante wants to go – okay good luck to him. But the others want to stay.”
