Kolo Toure last night revealed he had no qualms in answering Brendan Rodgers' call of duty for Celtic.

The two men worked closely at Liverpool when the Anfield side club came within a Steven Gerrard stumble of almost winning the Barclays Premier League.

And the Ivorian can't wait to renew relations at Parkhead.

“He is somebody that I have worked with and had a great time at Liverpool,” he said. “We nearly won the league and everybody in the UK knows he is a top, top manager.

“When I spoke to Brendan that was important but when when you are linked with a team like Celtic you are just so happy because it is one of the best clubs in the world and you want to join the team straight away.

"Brendan is here as well and that made things much easier. I am delighted that I have signed for this club.”

While there is not much in football that Tire has not experienced, his derby experience will be broadened by getting the chance to partake of the Glasgow variety.

“I am looking forward to it,” he smiled. “I have played in a few big derbies in the Premier League but this one is really special. I’ve watched it on TV and it is really amazing. I will make sure I’m prepared for it. When I watched it, I just thought ‘Wow!’. It was unbelievable. Even just watching on TV, you can feel it. So if I’m able to get on the pitch and feel it, it is going to be massive for me.”
