Tony McInally has revealed that nobody has spurned a big-money offer to sign for Pollok - because he hasn’t made any.

He made the no-nonsense declaration after putting his players through a stiff training session in preparation for tomorrow’s trip across city for a friendly against St Roch's.

“I was straight back into the thick of things after returning back last weekend from a very relaxing holiday break in Spain and it’s been highly amusing to hear about our reputed signing moves for players.

“Why our club is being mentioned in despatches escapes me because the only confirmed newcomers on the books are the forward pair of Gary McCann and Michael Daly who put pen to paper before my holiday break.

“Not another contract offer has been made, though I will admit to having invited the former Irvine Meadow defender Grant Evans to join our pre-season training in order to run the rule over him but nothing has been decided as yet.

“A further recommendation we followed up concerned the former Stirling Albion midfielder Willie Robertson however he closed the door on any possible signing interest by opting to put pen to paper for Annan Athletic.

“I will own up to having definite plans to bring a couple of ex-Seniors around the place next week with a view to blooding them in our forthcoming Euroscot Eng Cup section games but any other names being linked with Pollok are pure conjecture.

”Our focus is on working with our current 16 strong playing squad and trying to get the best out of them .”

The manner of last Monday night’s 5-0 victory over Rossvale had Macca delighted with the form shown by new boys Daly and McCann.

He added: “Michael played exceptionally well on his debut outing as a Pollok player and to mark his appearance by scoring a goal will undoubtedly take the pressure of him and do wonders for his confidence.

“Gary only played the second half as he’s far from fully fit after recently returning from his own holiday, but he was absolutely outstanding in the short time he was on the pitch.

“He is such a direct runner yet is so elusive at the same time and I fancy it won’t be long till he’s a favourite of the Newlandsfield terracings.”

Macca’s selection hand is almost down to the bare bones for tomorrow’s tester against the Candy Rock the first tie between the two sides in 13 years.

Colin Williamson, Finlay Frye, Carlo Monti and Kieron McAleenan will all be posted missing.

He said: "Alan McKenzie is coming back on Friday night and we have little choice other than to throw him in at the deep end to help with numbers.

“A few regular bodies will be absent but a strong Pollok team will be going to the James McGrory Stadium looking to win the game.”

St Rochs gaffer Andy Cameron cannot wait to see how his playing charges fare against their city rivals.

He revealed: “Pollok are recognised as one of the leading clubs in the game and how we play against them will provide an indication of our own standing .

“A gala day as promised as our newly-built Players Lounge is to be officially opened and there is a barbecue tent as well as entertainment provided by local DJ’s and a Bouncy Castle so we’re hoping for a decent turnout of local people.
