DANNY WILSON is confident Rangers will bounce back from their Burnley defeat as attentions turn to the new Premiership campaign.

Mark Warburton’s side were beaten for the first time this term at Ibrox on Saturday as the Clarets ran out comfortable 3-1 winners in the Gers’ final pre-season outing.

Striker Andre Gray hit a hat-trick as the Premier League newcomers turned in an impressive performance to continue their own preparations for the big kick-off south of the border.

The countdown is on to the visit of Hamilton Accies this weekend and the start of the Premiership campaign as Rangers bid for title glory this term.

And defender Wilson reckons Warburton’s side will have ironed out any issues by the time they take to the field in the top flight.

“The best time for it to happen was now rather than getting six or 12 games into the season and then having to look at it, we can address the problems and move on from it,” he told rangers.co.uk.

“We knew we were going to get a real test and that is what we got, we talked about it in the changing room and know we have a lot of work to do.

“There are some positives we can take but we are disappointed with the way it has gone.

“We have played four games in the League Cup and we always knew today was going to be the hardest test and it just shows we still have a long way to go.

“We like to keep everything in house but we just know we need to be better in every area of the pitch and that must be our main focus.

“We won’t get too downbeat because we are back here next weekend for the opening league fixture, in front of a sell out crowd and we need to make ourselves ready for that.

“But we also need to learn from that and make sure nothing like that happens throughout the season.”
