RANGERS boss Mark Warburton has targeted a move for former Premier League star Joleon Lescott in a bid to bolster his Ibrox defence.
The 34-year-old has was part of the Aston Villa squad that was relegated to the Championship last season and has been told that he can leave the club by new boss Roberto Di Matteo.
And SportTimes understands that Rangers hope to put an offer on the table to attempt to bring the former England defender north of the border.
Former Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos started training with Warburton's squad on Monday and will spend the coming days at Auchenhowie as he bids to win a deal with the Light Blues.
But Lescott is also under consideration by Warburton and assistant David Weir as they look to add another defender to their squad for a shot at the Premiership title this term.
A move for Preston striker Joe Garner is nearing completion and that will leave Warburton with just one deal to do before the close of the transfer window.
