EFE AMBROSE has been dropped from Celtic's squad to face Hapoel Be'er Sheva in the Champions League play-off as new signing Dorus de Vries is included.

The Nigeria international was named on the original squad list for the two-legged tie against the Israeli champions, which begins tonight with a 7:45pm kick-off time at Celtic Park.

Dutch goalkeeper De Vries arrived from Nottingham Forest on the weekend and has struggled with injury problems lately, but has been included in Rodgers' revised list.

Clubs are permitted by UEFA to make one change in their squad before 11pm on the night before the first leg of any qualifying tie.

Ambrose was criticised for his performance in the 1-0 second qualifying round defeat to Lincoln Red Imps and also featured in the first leg of the tie against Astana.

Summer signings Kolo Toure, Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele are all in the squad but midfielder Kris Commons didn't make the cut.

Centre-back pair Dedryck Boyata and Erik Sviatchenko have also been included after recovering from their injury problems.

Kieran Tierney and Eoghan O'Connell, who have featured prominently for the Bhoys so far this season, have been named in the B list for youth players and are available for selection.
