Richie Worrall says Glasgow Tiger speedway fans are in for their biggest treat of 2016 when Somerset visit the city in a top-of-the-table clash on Sunday.

The Tigers star will face his old club, bidding to knock them off their perch at the Premier League summit.

Going into meetings away at Edinburgh and Berwick this weekend, the Rebels are three clear at the top. But should they lose both matches and then succumb to Glasgow on Sunday, the sides will be tied for points with just a few meetings left before the play-offs.

Richie insists that if he had to pick one match to be at, this would be it.

He said: "If I was a fan, that would be the match to see. Both teams are top of the league, hopefully the weather is nice and the track is good, and there will be some brilliant racing - no doubt about it.

"We are both fighting for the top of the league. They have a very strong team but around our place, but the way we're going, I don't think we'll have any problems.

"I'm just looking at it as another day. I won't prepare any differently as I try to do as well as I can every time I race."

Somerset head north boasting the strongest line-up seen from any visiting league side to the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium this season.

They're led by former Glasgow favourite Josh Grajczonek - a World Cup finalist with Australia - along with his compatriot Rohan Tungate. Thomas Jorgensen of Berwick is a guest at No 2, while Edinburgh's Dan Bewley - a hero guesting for the Tigers just last week - performs the same role at reserve for the Rebels this time.

Richie Worrall was put out of the play-offs with Somerset by Glasgow in their semi-final last year, and he said: "On a personal level, it would be nice to get one over them.

"It's a massive psychological boost to finish top going into the play-offs and I think it would be a brilliant achievement. Other teams would be looking at that and thinking, 'These guys aren't here to mess about'.

"We are battling it out with Somerset - we're up, they're up, we're up - if we can come out on top, it would be pretty cool.

"We've got to stay injury-free and have every part of the team there - nobody missing, no guests. We need all the mechanics to be putting the hours in on the bikes, making sure we don't have any engine failures or any last places. We've got to make sure everyone is right and everyone is on it."

The Tigers are set to welcome Rene Bach into the fold once again after he was sidelined briefly with an ankle injury, while Danny Ayres continues his comeback from a broken wrist at No 7.

Tapes-up is at 3pm.
