JOE DODOO reckons Rangers have to believe they are simply the best this season as Mark Warburton’s side set their sights on the Premiership silverware.

The Light Blues have taken seven points from their first three top flight outings this term and head to Kilmarnock on Friday aiming to secure a third successive league win.

Victory at Rugby Park would ensure Warburton’s side retain pole position in the title race going into the first Old Firm derby of the campaign at Parkhead next month.

And summer signing Dodoo insists the Gers will continue to think positively as they tackle their Premiership rivals in the coming weeks and months.

He said: “We have a lot of meetings here, we watch a lot of games and analyse what we do. Everybody here wants to improve.

“Every day we are working on how we can improve. The senior players, the younger players, everybody is together and we work together every day really hard to improve our game.

“We watch the videos, analyse and see where what we did well and what we didn’t do so well and we work on it through training and look to improve for the following game.

“I want to be part of a winning team. I wanted to come somewhere where you are expected to win games and you are expected to win trophies and that is the kind of team I strive to play for.

“Here, you have to be successful, we have to win games. That is probably the main reason why I came to this club.

“The standard of football in Scotland is a good standard. The Premier League is different obviously, but at the end of the day we have a really strong team, we have a strong squad and we go out there knowing that we are going to be better than anyone. We are going to play the game and win.

“No matter how good the team we are playing against is, we have to be positive and think we are better.

“It is a good standard but we always have to go there with a positive frame of mind that we are going there, we are Rangers and we are going there to win. That is the way it has got to be.”

Dodoo is one of ten players that Warburton has added to his squad this summer as he looks to turn his Championship winners into Premiership contenders.

The former Leicester City kid has two goals in his five appearances for the Gers so far this term and will compete with Martyn Waghorn, Kenny Miller and Joe Garner for a central striking berth.

But the 21-year-old is confident he can play his part in the Light Blues’ attack as Warburton’s side strive for success this season.

“It is good because I can go left, I can go right, during games I will be moving left and right so it is difficult for defenders to keep track of what I am doing or where I am,” he told RangersTV.

“The middle is preferably where I want to be but if we keep switching and rotating around that is good also and I can play both positions well.

“They know I am here to work and to get the job done and help the club succeed.

“For me, it is a long-term project and I am happy to be part of it. The club is going forward so it is great for me to be part of something so great that is going to get better and better.

“The manager has shown faith in me, and the club also, and I am here to work hard for the club.”
