CELTIC didn’t make it comfortable for themselves or their supporters, but the Hoops’ 2-0 defeat in Israel on Tuesday was enough to ensure they will be part of Thursday afternoon's Champions League draw.

After two years of European disappointment under Ronny Deila, the Parkhead club’s name will once again be folded into one of UEFA’s star-coated plastic balls in Monaco thanks to their 5-4 aggregate play-off win.

The draw, which begins at 5pm, will feature four pots from which the eight groups will be drawn.

The remaining three pots are decided by the clubs’ coefficient at the end of last season, placing Celtic in pot four.

The rules of the draw state that no team can play a club from their own association, while it is also forbidden for Ukrainian and Russian clubs to face each other.

Celtic will begin their campaign on the 13/14 September, with the group stages culminating on 6/7 December.

There will then be a two-month break before the knockout stages begin, with the final on 3 June to be hosted at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.
