MANCHESTER CITY have announced the signing of Chile international Claudio Bravo from Barcelona on a four-year deal.

The goalkeeper's arrival is likely to spell the end of Joe Hart's time at the Etihad Stadium as the England international is yet to start a Premier League game under manager Pep Guardiola.

Bravo won two La Liga titles in a row with the Catalan club and captained his country to their second consecutive Copa America triumph earlier this summer.

While the fee has not been disclosed, reports have suggested that the Chilean has joined for a fee of around £17 million.

The 33-year-old made 32 league appearances for Barca last season, acting as Luis Enrique's domestic keeper while German Marc-Andre ter Stegen took over Champions League duties.

Barcelona announced the arrival of Netherlands international Jasper Cillessen in an £11 million deal earlier today, paving the way for Bravo's departure.

“I’m very proud to be joining Manchester City," Bravo told City's official website.

"I know the Club is building something very special and I hope I can be part of many successes in the coming years.

“I have followed City’s progress in recent years and obviously know some of my new team-mates from the Copa America.

“It is not easy to leave a club like Barcelona where I had two fantastic years, but the opportunity to work with Pep Guardiola was too good to refuse.

“Now I will challenge the other great goalkeepers the Club has and together I hope we can win many trophies.”

City boss Guardiola added: “Claudio is a fantastic goalkeeper and an excellent addition to our squad.

“He has experience and great leadership qualities and is in the prime of his life. He is a goalkeeper I have admired for a number of years and I’m really happy he is now a City player.”
