Craig Gordon did not look at his best against Hapoel Be’er Sheva and it has been an uncertain few weeks for the Celtic goalkeeper – but I would still stick with him if it was my choice to make.

We will have to wait and see if Dorus De Vries is brought into the fray this weekend against Aberdeen but I still have to say that I think Gordon is a quality keeper.

I do think that bringing another keeper to the club has affected him to such extent. He definitely seems to have been looking over his shoulder a little bit.

However, although I felt that the header from which Hapoel scored their opening goal the other night was a weak one, and the mistake when he and Saidy Janko collided was also poor, I did think that Gordon rallied in the latter stages of the game.

The thing with Janko for the second goal ought to have been Gordon’s ball all the way – if you are the keeper in that situation then you are telling the eejit to get out of the way because you are claiming anything that is in that area.

It was clumsy and it was poor but after that he had one or two clean saves and I did think he had to show his mental strength to come back from that. It will be interesting to see what happens next as Celtic look towards the group stages of the Champions League but if it was me who was making the decision, I would be sticking with Gordon.
