Kieran Tierney has set his sights on settling a score when Celtic host Rangers after the international break.

Rangers enjoyed their Scottish Cup semi-final victory over the Parkhead side back in April, a game settled on a penalty shoot-out.

It provided the catalyst for Ronny Deila's departure from the club but Tierney believes it will be a rejuvenated Celtic side that line up against Rangers next month.

"You could say we want to make up for that," said Tierney. "No-one ever likes to lose a game, especially a game against Rangers.

"But it seems like a long time ago now. The team is different and there is so much good feeling just now.

"We have the Champions League to look forward to and we are all really enjoying our football.

"I am a Celtic fan as much as I am a Celtic player so I am looking forward to the game against Rangers. But the focus is like every other game - we want to win and play well."

Tierney will head to Scotland duty now as Scotland kick off their World Cup qualifying campaign.

The 19-year-old has been comfortable for Celtic at European level and the next step for him will be impose himself in the same way in Gordon Strachan's side.

"Yes, that's what the aim is, " said Tierney. "But is still feels nice to be picked for the squad.Glasgow Times: Star man: Celtic's Kiran Tierney impressed again, winning a penalty for his side.

"All I can do is keep my head down, train hard and see what the manager thinks. I think I am ready now to play at that level but it is the manager's decision to make.

"There are a few of the other Celtic boys in the team so it always helps you feel settled."

Leigh Griffiths is in the squad but a hamstring strain mights hinder his involvement.

Certainly, though, the striker's current form is every bit as ruthless this season as it was last term.

Griffiths has netted seven goals already and Tierney has praised the contribution from the 25-year-old.

"He is something else," said Tierney. "He is a guy you just know can put the ball in the net wherever he is. He took his goal really well but you just know that if he is on the pitch that he is a threat.

"I would rather be playing with him than against him, that's for sure.

"Hopefully he'll be fine for Scotland because he has been brilliant so far this season and I am sure that he would be able to do that for the national team as well."

Meanwhile, Celtic's interest in James McCarthy has quelled after Everton insisted that he would not be leaving the club in the current transfer window.

Everton believe a groin injury the player has could require surgery, scuppering a move for him anywhere.

Brendan Rodgers, though, will look to add at least one more player before Wednesday night's transfer deadline.
