WILLIE COLLUM has been appointed as referee for Saturday's Scottish Premiership clash between Celtic and Rangers at Parkhead.

The Scottish Football Association confirmed on their website on Tuesday that Collum will take charge of the fixture for a third time.

It follows on from his appointment by UEFA as Scotland's representative at EURO 2016 earlier this summer, where he was applauded for his performances in France's 2-0 win against Albania and a 2-0 victory for Turkey over the Czech Republic.

The 37-year-old infuriated Celtic manager Neil Lennon when he first took charge of an Old Firm derby in October 2010, after awarding Rangers a penalty and failing to send off Lee McCulloch.

He was the subject of a complaint from Celtic to the SFA and also received death threats for his performance.

But the second time he took charge of the derby, a 1-0 win for Celtic at Parkhead in December 2011, the match passed without controversy.

Collum's team for this Saturday will be assistant referees Frank Connor and Douglas Ross, while Kevin Clancy has been named as the fourth official.
