MATT GILKS admits he can’t wait to experience the Old Firm atmosphere as he prepares for his first taste of derby day this afternoon.
The 34-year-old moved to Ibrox in the summer and will travel to Parkhead as part of Mark Warburton’s squad for the first clash with Celtic this term.
Gilks is one of several players in the Light Blue ranks who has never played in an Old Firm fixture and he is likely to spend the afternoon watching the action unfold from the sidelines.
Glove rival Wes Foderingham is set to continue between the sticks for Rangers as Warburton’s side set their sights on top spot in the Premiership standings.
And Gilks can’t wait for the action to get underway in the East End as he gets set to experience the Old Firm battle for the first time in his career.

“I was on the train up with Joey Barton and we were discussing the game,” he told rangers.co.uk.
“We have played in big games throughout our careers, Joey a few bigger than I have, and everyone is speaking about this game and the enormity of it.
“We really can’t wait to experience it for ourselves because it is another level to what we have experienced. We are looking forward to it and going to approach it in the right manner to get a result at Celtic Park.
“I played at Wembley in the play-off final, there were 90,000 there and it was the richest game in football.
“They are saying it will far surpass that. That, to me, means it is going to be one hell of an atmosphere.
“I am just looking forward to going there and witnessing it for myself and I can be that person that tells my friends and family and other players who might not have experienced it what it is actually like.”
