CHRIS DAVIES has promised Celtic will go all out to clinch a place in the Betfred Cup last four tomorrow night.

The Hoops host Ladbrokes League One top side Alloa at Parkhead but the Hoops No.2 insists there's no chance of the favourites taking their opponents lightly.

Both clubs may be a world apart in terms of resources but Davies has underlined the significance of claiming a trophy before Christmas so Celtic can, in the words of his manager Brendan Rodgers, continue their 'domination' of Scottish football.

“For us it’s about picking the best team to win the game," he said. "We’ve got an opportunity to get to the semi-finals, a chance to win a trophy before Christmas.

“The manager made it clear when he came here in his first press conference that his aim was to continue with the domination of Scottish football - that’s about winning trophies so this is a big game for us.

“We respect the competition a lot so there’s no chance we’ll be thinking any less of Alloa because that would give them an advantage. We’ll be treating it as a big game.

“It’s the boring old line of just win the next game. That’s all you can ever focus on as a player is your next training session preparing for the next match."

In Alloa they face an opponent that has already won all their group stage games as well as dump out Premiership side Inverness.

In their ranks is former Celtic colt Greig Spence, and the striker is relishing the opportunity of going up against his old team.

"It will be good to go back and make a good account of yourself," said the 24-year-old. "Maybe show that you can play at that level because there are boys who were in the same youth team as me who are playing every week for Celtic - and if I'm perfectly honest they're not a million miles better than me.

"Obviously I'm only 24 so a few good seasons and I could be back at that sort of level."
