WES FODERINGHAM: Denied Kenny McLean with a fine stop in the first half. Had every reason to be furious with his defence as Hayes was allowed to burst clear as he opened the scoring just after the break. Could do little about Maddison’s stunning free-kick. 6

JAMES TAVERNIER: This is the kind of test that many Gers fans would have feared but the right-back has improved his defensive play this term. Hayes got the better of him, though. Wrongly penalised and booked for a foul on the winger that lead to the winner. 6

CLINT HILL: Kept his place alongside Wilson as the pair went in search of a third consecutive clean sheet. Coped fine with the Dons attack in the first half but watched on as Hayes opened the scoring just seconds after the restart. 5

DANNY WILSON: His lack of pace was exposed by the speedy Aberdeen attack and he won’t want to see the opening goal again. Beaten too easily on a handful of occasions. 5

LEE WALLACE: Ibrox skipper knew exactly what to expect at Pittodrie as the rivalry was resumed. Had to be alert to deal with the tricky Dons forward line. Trademark run from left-back as he earned the Gers a penalty when he was fouled by Hayes. 6

ANDY HALLIDAY: Put in a shift as always as he hassled and harried in the middle of the park and looked to drive the Gers forward. Kept his composure with a cool finish but wasn't rewarded with a point. 7

JASON HOLT: Has added energy and athleticism in the midfield in recent weeks and once again got about the park and was always looking to get involved. Couldn’t break down the Dons defence, though. 7

HARRY FORRESTER: A frustrating afternoon for the midfielder as he struggled to make an impression. Has the tenacity and technical ability to be a key player but he didn’t show his quality at Pittodrie. 5

MARTYN WAGHORN: Hit a hat-trick against Queen of the South in midweek but was moved to a wide right role as Garner came back into the side. Never looked as threatening and didn’t pose enough of a threat. 5

JOE GARNER: The striker isn’t afraid to put himself about and he was involved in a series of skirmishes throughout the afternoon. Booked for a rash challenge on Hayes. Couldn’t follow up his goal at Parkhead with one at Pittodrie. 6

BARRIE MCKAY: Came close with a curling shot after jinking by Logan in the first half and showed some nice touches in a good battle with the Dons right-back. Hasn’t been at his best but was a threat here. 6

SUBS

NIKO KRANJCAR (for Forrester 61): The first roll of the dice for Warburton but the Croatian couldn’t inspire Rangers to victory. 3

MICHAEL O’HALLORAN (for Waghorn 68): Posed a different threat on the right hand side but had few chances to get at the Dons defence. 3

KENNY MILLER (for Garner 76): Would have hoped to be the Gers hero when he came off the bench. Couldn’t make an impact, though. 3
