JASON HOLT hopes he can help Rangers turn their performances into points as they bid to climb the Premiership standings.

Mark Warburton’s side have fallen to seventh spot in the top flight table after a poor run in the opening weeks of the campaign.

The Gers have dropped points against Hamilton, Kilmarnock, Celtic, Ross County and Aberdeen already this term.

The return to fitness of Holt has given Warburton another option in the middle of the park and the 23-year-old has impressed for the Light Blues.

Now Holt knows Rangers have to start picking up points sooner rather than later as attentions turn to Saturday’s clash with Partick Thistle.

He told rangers.co.uk: “I think I’ve been doing alright; I was just delighted to get back in the team because it was a frustrating time out injured.

“When I was back in training I just wanted to try and impress the manager and get back in the team, I have done that so it is down to me to keep the jersey now.

“I went back into full training and we keen to impress and the gaffer put me in so it was down to me to perform.

“Overall we are still disappointed about the weekend because we never won the game but I think we have made progression in our performances from a few weeks but we need to turn those into wins because that is frustrating.

“Ultimately we need to get the points to climb the table and we have been happy with the gradual progression but that’s not good enough.

“We need to get more goals to try and win the games but in general we don’t need to change too much.

“Our performances have been pretty decent but it’s about when we’re on top taking our chances and ultimately putting the ball in the back of the net.

“Against Queen of the South we saw that the first goal changes the game so in games gone by when we haven’t picked up points it’s been because we haven’t been scoring when we’re on top – that is the important thing and we need to look to do that.”
