MARK WARBURTON hopes Jordan Rossiter will be ready and raring to go for next weekend’s showdown with Celtic at Hampden.
The midfielder has not played since the 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock in August and spent several weeks out of action with a calf injury.
Rangers face Inverness Caley Thistle tomorrow night before attentions turn to the Betfred Cup clash with their Old Firm rivals.
And the Ibrox boss is pleased to have the former Liverpool midfielder back in his squad ahead of a crunch few weeks for the Light Blues.
Warburton said: “Jordan is back and he’s trained four days. The Inverness game might come too early for him but hopefully he’s available for the League Cup semi-final the following weekend.
“He’s a good player. He’s 19 but he’s a mature head on young shoulders. He knows that game, he knows that position.
“He knows what he does well and he knows his limitations - he won’t try a worldie 80-yard pass.
“Jordan wins it and moves it on. I’ve been really impressed with him. It’s nice to welcome Jordan back and have a full squad for the first time.”
Rangers ended a barren run of Premiership form with victory over Partick Thistle last time out thanks to goals from Niko Kranjcar and Andy Halliday at Ibrox.
The Gers squad were given some time off during the domestic shutdown before returning to step up their preparations for the trip to the Highlands.
Warburton, who had his broadcast media press conference halted after being repeatedly questioned about Joey Barton, said: “I had three days at home during the international break and put on about half a stone in weight with some home cooking!
“It was nice to get home because I hadn’t been home for a while and I had a few meetings with London clubs to maintain relationships. “It’s always nice to speak to other clubs and get different ideas on various aspects but three days at home in my own bed wasn’t a bad thing.”
