Christoph Kramer believes Borussia Monchengladbach will be playing against a "special" team when they face Celtic on Wednesday night.

As well as taking note of the Hoops' thrilling 3-3 Champions League Group C draw with Manchester City at Parkhead last month, the 25-year-old German has studied the Scottish champions on YouTube.

And the midfielder has been impressed by what he has watched on the fields and in the stands.

Speaking at Celtic Park before the Bundesliga side trained, Kramer, who started the 2014 World Cup final for Germany against Argentina before coming off in the first half with concussion, said: "Scottish football isn't as good as German football but Celtic is special.

"They are a very good team and we have seen that against Manchester City.

"They can do that against every team in Europe.

"So we are not playing against a typical Scottish team, we are playing Celtic, they play in the Champions League because they are good.

"I have watched some footage of the games on YouTube.

"I watched a song from one of the recent games, I don't know what song, and I also watched footage of the Liverpool game when they sang 'You'll Never Walk Alone'.

"So we have a tough challenge tomorrow. I think it is a 50-50 game.

"But I do not fear coming here. We are all looking forward to it.

"We are certainly not scared of playing against Celtic. We have earned our place in this competition and deserve to be here.

"We must play to win. That is always the case.

"Generally a draw could be acceptable but ultimately what we want is to win."

Brendan Rodgers' side have one point from two games while Borussia Monchengladbach were beaten by Manchester City and Barcelona, which heaps the pressure on to the double-header between the teams.

Injury will deny Gladbach the use of attackers Raffael and Thorgan Hazard and defender Andreas Christensen, while forward Fabian Johnson missed the trip to Glasgow through illness.

Boss Andre Schubert is confident he has enough in his squad to get a positive result.

Speaking through an interpreter, he said: "It is always going to be difficult without certain key players, especially the best scorers and players in defence.

"But we have good players to come in and we believe they can do well. Hopefully we can get an excellent result.

"We are going to meet with a lot of passion from the fans.

"This will be a big challenge but we need to make an impact and be aggressive."
