FRASER AIRD admits he faces an uncertain future as he prepares to return to Rangers following his loan spell in Canada.

The 21-year-old made 18 appearances for Vancouver Whitecaps after joining the MLS side in January but it proved to be a disappointing campaign.

Carl Robinson’s side missed out on a place in the MLS play-offs and Aird’s deal came to an end following the 4-1 win over Portland on Sunday.

He will now hold talks with Gers boss Mark Warburton and is keen to find first team football to enable him to continue his international career with the Canucks.

Aird said: "To be honest, I'm not too sure yet. I've not even made up my mind.

“I need to sit down with my agent. I haven't even spoke to Robbo. I need to do that now the season's finished.

“Hopefully we can sit down and see what's happening, but going forward, I don't really know what's happening yet. I can't give you a definite answer because I don't even know.

"That's one thing I need to discuss. I'll speak to my agent, speak to both managers, and see what their plans are for the future.

“It's easy talking about week in, week out, but you need to have a plan for the future. I want to play.

"I got called into the national team. They want to see me play too.

“Whatever's the best option for me, hopefully they have that in consideration, and then we can go from there.

"Everyone wants to play for their country. Probably one of the greatest honours you can have in football is playing for your country.

“I've had a taste of it and just had another two caps away in the camp there, so hopefully I can build on that.

"But you need to be playing week in, week out in my opinion to play at international level, so that you're ready when you get called upon. So that will definitely be a big factor in my decision going forward."
