MARK WARBURTON will continue to assess his Ibrox options as he bids to bolster his Rangers ranks during the January transfer window.

The Light Blues boss added eleven players to his squad in the summer but is poised to go back into the market early next year.

Rangers are nine points adrift of Celtic in the Premiership standings after a lacklustre start to the season that has seen pressure mount on Warburton and his players.

But the 54-year-old won’t change his approach to doing deals as he attempts to add further strength and depth to his Gers squad in January.

Warburton said: “We’ll see what we need. What we do is have options for every position.

“You don’t know what’s going to happen – if a bid comes in for one of your players. You just don’t know.

“January is always harder than the summer window. No doubt about that.

“So you have to have your targets identified. Are they viable? Are they accessible?

“All these questions you have to ask. Normally the teams that are doing well don’t want to sell their players.

“The teams that are doing badly are desperately trying to buy players so you can get priced out of the market.

“It’s a horrible window. But you have to have targets.

“Can you get them? It’s not easy to get them in January.

“It’s easy if he’s a £1m player that you are bidding £3m for. Then it’s easy.

“Otherwise it’s not easy because the good clubs don’t want to sell their best players. If you are going for them you hope very much he’s a good player.

“The worst thing you can do is panic buy in January.”
