We are approaching the final round of fixtures in October and a long season is still stretched out in front of Celtic.

However, a quick glance at the league table – and the gap that currently separates Brendan Rodgers’s team and the rest of the Ladbrokes Premiership - would suggest otherwise.

First and foremost he made the group stages of the Champions League. That was the hardest task. He maybe got a couple of breaks in the away games but that was his first and biggest target.

From that, domestically you can see at this stage that there is nobody that’s going to challenge them. Maybe at the start of the season, but with the way it has progressed you can’t see anything other than Celtic winning the title.

That’s been confirmed with how the team have played in the Scottish top flight and how they are already seven points clear with a game in hand. Up to now at home in all fronts they couldn’t have done much better.

After the win over Rangers on Sunday in the Betfred Cup semi-final they are now in their first final under Brendan where they will face Aberdeen. Derek McInnes’s side will give them a tough test on November 27 just as they will tomorrow in the Premiership.

However, Celtic are progressing strongly. You have to be careful when making big predictions but you have to say the league is there even at this stage. They are also in the League Cup final.

When they were vulnerable before in cup games under Ronny Deila that doesn’t seem to be the case now. We are not even into November yet and I already think they could be on for a domestic treble.

The other question you have to ask is can they domestically go unbeaten? It’s something Brendan batted away earlier in the week but some Celtic fans will already see this as a potential target.

Well, up to now they are unbeaten. It’s a tall order, of course it is. But they have such a strong squad.

If you look at Wednesday’s 4-0 win away to Ross County they recorded that result having made eight alterations to the starting line-up.

Craig Gordon made a couple of good saves but teams will be looking at Celtic and think ‘How are we going to get something against them?’

It’s not impossible but it’s difficult.

Having said that, one of their toughest tests will come tomorrow when they travel north to Pittodrie. If they are going to come unstuck in a game that could very well be it.

That may answer the question of whether they can go all season undefeated. If they manage to come back down the road with a point or even more in the bag, that could be a real indicator.

Yes, as the season progresses they may face other hurdles, but at this stage they have shown an adaptability that will have the players going in ready for the challenge.

To make so many changes and finish comfortable winners at Dingwall says a lot. It really shows you the strength of the squad and to be honest Brendan almost has two teams. He’s covered in every position.

That augers well for Celtic but if you are the opposition in Scotland coming up against the defending champions is a daunting task. The new manager has brought the fear factor back to the club.

Particularly at home. Domestically at home they almost look invincible.

There are a lot more people turning up and that can play a factor. The other aspect is the team looks so fit and they keep on going. These play a big part and you saw on Sunday with the late goal that they keep on going to the very end.

Looking back on the semi-final, it could have been more if they had taken their chances. I think Rangers did try to make themselves harder to beat and tighter. It was only 1-0 but I think Celtic underlined the gulf between their squad the one under Mark Warburton.

You could see in the last game at Celtic Park with the formation Mark set out it made Rangers more vulnerable. On Sunday they were at times a little less exposed but Celtic’s pace and quality up front told in the end. They always looked capable of scoring against Rangers. You couldn’t say the same the other way.

Yeah, you know anything can happen in a cup game but Celtic were worthy winners.

You just have to look at Moussa Dembele’s winner, it was a real touch of class.

For me, that sums up the difference between the two. Celtic have got the edge overall but particularly up front they look a lot more threatening.

Brendan said earlier this week the team will get better. It’ll be fascinating to see how.
