RANGERS defender Clint Hill says he 'feels old' after setting a scoring record in Sunday's draw with Ross County, but the veteran is targeting more goals in a Light Blues shirt.

The 38-year-old became the Scottish Premiership's oldest goalscorer when he rose to head in an early corner in the 1-1 draw in Dingwall, but is yet to match the Ibrox club's record held by Davie Weir.

Hill made the move north over the summer and had scored twice in the League Cup already this season before taking former Falkirk player Lee Bullen's record over the weekend.

He told Rangers TV: “My reaction to get that record is that I feel old! I think it’s fair to say that’s my main feeling.

“I am delighted to score but wow that just tells me how old I am, it’s a nice record to have though.

“I still feel youngish compared to big Davie if he’s the oldest Rangers scorer.

“It is a great achievement, I am happy to be here at 38-years-old and playing for Rangers and I’m happy to score but not quite happy with the score.

“I definitely didn’t think I’d still be scoring goals at this age when I first started out, I think when you first start you just hope to get to 21 and get a pro contract.

“When you get to 35 you’re happy that you’ve had a good career and anything over that is a bonus and it’s turned out that way for me.

“I’m happy to still be playing and if I can nick the odd goal here and there then so be it.

“I feel like I should have had a few more goals, I have been unlucky with a few, there have been a few off the line and the keepers have made a couple of good saves and now one of them has gone in at last.

“Hopefully I can be a little bit more of a threat as the season goes on and I would love to score more if I can.

“The delivery from the crosses the past few weeks has been spot on so I think we’re a danger from set pieces which is a good thing for us and means we can mix it up a bit.”

Hill conceded that he was to blame for Ross County's equaliser after a disappointing display from Mark Warburton's side during Sunday's stalemate.

“I have looked at Ross County’s goal and I was blocked, I think Jay McEveley has blocked me initially and as I am running back Rob and I have collided as well so I have to take responsibility for that," he explained.

“I think my body positioning maybe wasn’t quite right for the goal, I should have been a little bit more side on to anticipate the block and move around.

“I’m not too happy with that on my part, I know when a mistake has been made but I always look back on them and see if I can correct things and I shouldn’t have allowed that block to happen.

“We weren’t as solid as the past few games, I could sit here and lie to you but that is not going to happen and we were poor all over the pitch.

“I think maybe all of us were five or ten percent below what we should have been.

“You can probably afford to carry one or two who have off days across the course of the season but if five, six or seven of you are having off days then it’s going to be a struggle and that’s the way it was on Sunday. We’ll move on and try and correct it.”
