CLINT HILL has held his hands up for the error that allowed Ross County to take a point from their Premiership clash with Rangers on Sunday.

The defender put Mark Warburton’s side in control in the Highlands with a towering header after eight minutes.

But he was then at fault for the County equaliser as skipper Andrew Davies was left unmarked in the area to direct the ball beyond keeper Wes Foderingham from a corner.

Hill and defensive partner Rob Kiernan collided on the edge of the six yard box as Davies spun away to find himself in space and was able to bring Jim McIntyre’s side level just before the half hour mark.

Rangers failed to respond as they turned in a flat performance in Dingwall to let another two top flight points slip through their grasps.

“I have looked at it. I was blocked,” Hill told RangersTV.

“I think [Jay] McEveley has blocked me initially and then as I am running back me and Rob have collided as well.

“I have got to take responsibility and maybe think that my body position wasn’t quite right for the goal and I should have been a bit more side on to anticipate the block and move round. So I am not too happy with that on my part.

“I know when a mistake has been made. I always look back and see if I can correct things and, looking back on that one, my body position wasn’t quite right to be honest and I shouldn’t have allowed the block to happen.

“It wasn’t as solid as the past few games. I can sit here and lie to you but that is not going to happen.

“We were poor all over the pitch. I think all of us were maybe five, ten per cent below what we should have been.

“You can probably afford to carry one or two who have off days during a season but if four, five, six, seven of you are having off days then it is going to be a struggle and that is the way it was on Sunday.”
