Former Celtic striker John Hartson has shrugged off Brendan Rodgers’ preference to play with just one striker.

Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths started the last league game against Inverness, but for the majority of games this season it has been Dembele who has led the line on his own.

In fairness, his chance came when Griffiths was sidelined with a hamstring injury, during which time the Frenchman firmly cemented his role in the team.

Dembele has since netted 16 goals for the Hoops so far this term.

Hartson was part of forward triumvirate under Martin O’Neill alongside Henrik Larsson and Chris Sutton.

Speaking to The Celtic View, Hartson said: “I don’t think it’s Brendan’s style. [to play with two.] He likes wide men and runners from midfield but both are great strikers. It’s the manager’s prerogative.”

Dembele has been inspirational for Celtic this term and it seems certain that he will remain the focal point for the Hoops attack, barring any kind of serious injury.
