RANGERS shareholders and supporters will gather in Glasgow for the Annual General Meeting on Friday morning and it is sure to be another interesting affair.

Everything from Joey Barton to Mike Ashley will be covered and I am sure there will be plenty of questions asked of Dave King and the board and manager Mark Warburton.

As far as the running of the club is concerned, the right people are in charge but the fans will want to know if there will be money spent on players and what will be happening on the park.

They are seeing the gap in the table to Celtic and will be wondering how long it will take for that to be closed and for us to win the league again.

Dave has got to tell the fans something to give them a lift because it hasn’t been a great start to the season for Rangers. Everybody is realistic and knows what it will take for Rangers to win the league again.

Those in attendance will certainly be a lot happier than they were a couple of years ago when the old board were still in place at Ibrox.

If the share issue is passed, there will be money coming straight in and that would be a huge plus. But there are still things to be asked and that will happen on Friday.

The interesting part of the meeting will be when you get the question and answer session at the end. Dave will anticipate what is going to come up and he will know what message he wants to get across.

He has promised a lot and you have to look at the money that has been put in by the directors and the investors so far.

People will say ‘where is the £30million?’ The Ashley loan was paid back, loans have been put in and more than £10million has gone into Rangers so far.

A lot has been spent around the club, there has been money spent on Ibrox and Auchenhowie and that was all work that had to be done.

Dave said that £30million was required to get the club back to where it was and that figure didn’t just include transfer funds for players.

The chairman will have to come up with some good answers, and I am sure he will. He is a smart man and he and his fellow directors are the right people to be in control at Ibrox.

But he will want to give the crowd something so that they go home with a smile on their face.

We have seen these meetings turn into a shouting match over the last few years and I don’t see that happening on Friday morning.

But, you never know. You might get a few that are angry with how things are going and they might stand up and say their piece.

The issue with the questions about Ashley and Sports Direct is that the board are limited in what they can say due to the legal action that is coming up.

It would be great if Dave could come out and explain the whole situation and let the fans know what has happened at Ibrox over the last few years. Unfortunately I don’t think he will able to say too much about it.

We know some of what went on under previous boards and some of the deals that Ashley has struck. It beggars belief. The fans want to know that the board will take it all the way.

Ashley will be delighted with the deals that he has given at that time. He is not willing to negotiate so we are now facing the situation where more legal action looks like it will be the only way forward.

Then, everything will come out. Ashley has tried to gag people in the past but it will all come out in court and the fans will get a clearer idea of what has been going on over the last few years.

It won’t just be money and Sports Direct that will come up, though, and I am sure there will be a few questions for the manager as well.

Mark will probably get a bit of stick from the fans about his signing policy. But you have to remember that not every player works at every club.

The Barton situation will come up I would suspect and the supporters will want to know why he was brought in and what happened that lead up to him leaving the club.

Mark will maybe be a bit miffed with some of the stick that has been dished out to him and his players but that is something you have to accept as Rangers manager. It comes with the territory.

What the fans have to do is go in there in a positive frame of mind. You have to remember where Rangers have been and Dave and the manager will want to put across their plan of how they are going to take the club forward.

The supporters are realistic but they know where Rangers have to get back to.

It is up to the board and the manager to give them the belief that they can get there sooner rather than later so it will be interesting to hear what is said tomorrow morning.
