There isn’t a week that goes by without another club being linked with a move for Moussa Dembele.

The lad has been a revelation at Celtic as his 17 goals so far this term have shown – but I actually think that he could do with a breather.

I wouldn’t be too surprised to see Leigh Griffiths start the game at Fir Park this afternoon with Dembele taking a place on the bench.

The striker is still only 20 and when you consider the sheer amount of games he has played already this season, it is inevitable that his form will dip a little bit.

As well as doing it for Celtic this season he has also been involved with the French under-21 side so while a couple of the guys at Lennoxtown will have had a chance to get some down time during international weeks, he has been away.

He has looked a bit off the standard he has set for himself in recent weeks and I think it is just a simple case of taking a bit of time out.

You can always rely on Griffiths to give you goals and I think he has shown that he is hungry to come in and make an impact whenever he gets the chance to do so.

Giving Dembele a break and then bringing him back in for Tuesday’s game down in Manchester wouldn’t be a sensible option.

Meanwhile, it is not inconceivable that Celtic could go through this season unbeaten.

I understand how many variables are involved in that and how tough an ask it is when you give consideration to injuries and suspensions and poor pitches as the winter kicks in, but right now I just don’t see anyone who can live with Celtic just now.

Aberdeen are the one team that you would have thought would be up to giving Celtic a game, going by past encounters of late. And yet, they were never at the races at Hampden last week.

That is not strictly true, actually; their support were well up for it before the game but as soon as a ball was kicked they just never got near Brendan Rodgers’ side.

The very fact that ten out of the eleven who started that game were there last season tells you everything about the way Celtic have moved forward in a relatively short space of time.

They look fitter for one, they look far more cohesive and there seems to be a genuine spirit about them. The manager has succeeded in getting the best out of the guys he has got there with Scott Brown playing, for me, the best football of his career.

James Forrest, too, was exceptional at Hampden and what you have now throughout that team is genuine competition for places.

There is a hunger about them and let’s be honest – two out of the three trophies on offer are effectively done. The League Cup is in the bag and who will stop Celtic in the league?

That just leaves the Scottish Cup in terms of collecting a Treble. You never know what can happen in a one-off game and anyone is capable of losing like that, but the feeling you get from Celtic just now is that they are going into every game with the same mentality.

The manager doesn’t allow any kind of complacency and it has elevated them to a level where you just wonder who can compete against them.

The signings that arrived this summer massively improved the team and it will be interesting to see of the club do any business in the January transfer window now.

I still maintain that another striker and a creative midfielder would give Celtic the opportunity to move up another gear but it all comes down to the right targets being available at the right time.

Certainly, though, there is nothing at the minute that seems as though it could spike the feelgood factor at the club.

On and off the park things are moving in the right direction and it is difficult to see anyone being able to catch up with Celtic any time soon.
