Clyde midfielder Scott Linton says that home advantage can be the decisive factor in tonight’s Scottish Cup clash with League Two rivals Arbroath.

The Bully Wee have produced their best form at Broadwood this season, exemplified by the 3-2 win over tonight’s opponents back in September.

On the flip side of that, they went down 4-0 when they played the Red Lichties at Gayfield last month.

That’s why Linton believes that their name coming out of the hat first will have such a crucial part to play in their chances of making the fourth round.

“Home advantage is going to be massive,” Linton said. “I think this season our home form has been pretty good and that’s where we’ve picked up most of our points.

“We’ve started to hit form at home, so the fact that it is at Broadwood stands us in good stead and makes us favourites.

“That doesn’t mean it will be a shoo-in, it’s still going to be a really difficult game against a good team who also got beat at the weekend and will be out to get a win.

“We’re kind of even in the league as well so you can’t separate us too much, so it should be a good game.”

Clyde’s away woes continued at the weekend as they went down meekly to Cowdenbeath, a match that Linton missed through illness.

He senses a determination in the squad though to put that disappointment behind them at the earliest possible opportunity.

“I’ve spoken to a couple of the boys and they said it was a kind of nothing game and there wasn’t too many chances for either team,” he said.

“There wasn’t a goalkeeper under pressure, and it was maybe a game where getting out of there with a 0-0 draw would have probably been a decent result.

“To lose the goal in the manner we lost the goal and the time we lost it wasn’t ideal, so it was a disappointing result.

“It’s good that we’ve got a game so soon to try to put that right and get everyone back into positive spirits again.

“It won’t really feel like a Scottish Cup fixture because we’re playing a team from our league, but it’s still a chance to get through and the main thing is it is a chance to put things right from the weekend.”
