MOTHERWELL manager Mark McGhee has been slapped with a three-match ban for using abusive language against an official during his side's defeat to Dundee last month.

A disciplinary tribunal convened on Thursday and agreed on the punishment after considering McGhee's behaviour at the end of a 2-0 defeat for the Steelmen at Dens Park on Sunday 5 November.

The Scotland assistant manager faces an immediate two-match suspension, with a further one match being suspended until the end of the season, for using 'offensive, abusing, and/or insulting language towards a match official'.

McGhee was unhappy at referee John Beaton and his team of officials for refusing to award his team a goal when Dundee goalkeeper David Mitchell appeared to carry the ball across his own line from Scott McDonald's shot.

The 'Well boss will now be forced to sit out their next two games, at home to Kilmarnock and away to Aberdeen.
