Friday night football may be relatively new in Scottish league football, but as a player at Celtic, it was something I was used to because that was when Big Jock liked to play his reserve games.

I know there was a lot made of it at the time, but I don’t think fans are too averse to this change. In fact, I think they quite enjoy it. Going from what I hear, I think they’d prefer Friday night football to some of the early kick-off times they face.

It is all about bringing money in to the game, and giving TV what they want. But it does also give the chance to showcase Scottish football, and in the case of Celtic, another chance to show a wider audience what they are about domestically, which has been really impressive so far.

The only points dropped came the weekend after that game in Barcelona. Last week it looked as if they could drop a few more. But the resolve and spirit of the team shone through and they turned 2-0 and 3-2 deficit at Fir Park in to a 4-3 victory.

All credit to Motherwell for taking the game to Celtic and playing on the front foot from that first whistle. A year ago, I have no doubt Motherwell would have won that game. But this Celtic team is made of much sterner stuff. It will take something special to knock them off track.
