ST MIRREN have announced that Kyle Magennis has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2019.

The 18-year-old midfielder has impressed since moving into the senior squad under manager Jack Ross this season.

Magennis netted his first goal for the club during their 3-2 win against Queen of the South on Tuesday night, the Paisley outfit's first league victory of the season.

"I'm delighted," the youngster told StMirren.com.

"I've worked hard for it all my life having been at St Mirren since I was five years-old and it's good to get a reward from it.

"The club have showed faith in me year by year and it's great to now have a first team contract."

Buddies Chief Executive Tony Fitzpatrick added: "We're delighted to have Kyle signed up for the next few years.

"He has been a standout since he has come into the first team and it's great that he's chosen to continue his development at this club.

"Working under Jack Ross and James Fowler and getting regular game time will be massive for him and he'll be a big asset to us going forward." 

Magennis has chipped in with a goal and an assist during his seven appearances for Saints so far this season.
