RYAN Edwards today revealed Partick Thistle's stunning display against Hearts at Tynecastle has given them confidence they can avenge their drubbing against Celtic.

Edwards and his team mates face a difficult Ladbrokes Premiership match against the Scottish champions at Parkhead tomorrow evening.

It will be a tall order even getting a draw against rivals who have won 15 of their 16 games this season and will be looking to go 14 points clear at the head of the table with another triumph.

Alan Archibald's side certainly struggled when they took on Brendan Rodgers's team at Firhill earlier this month and could have no complaints about losing 4-1.

However, Edwards believes the 1-1 draw with the Hearts in Edinburgh on Saturday shows that Partick can perform well at difficult away venues.

The bottom-placed Premiership side fought back brilliantly against Ian Cathro's men and cancelled out Bjorn Johnsen's opener at the start of the second half.

Edwards, who set up Sean Welsh for his equaliser, was one of several Thistle players who went close to winning the game for the visitors.

Only the outstanding goalkeeping of Jack Hamilton, who denied Ade Azeez, Chris Erskine and Kris Doolan, prevented them from grabbing a deserved winner.

"We dominated the second half and had very good chances to take all three points," said Edwards. "We did really well to get back and equalise, but it was really disappointing we couldn't finish them off.

"It was important on Saturday that we showed the belief to go and get a result. It is a good point away from home, but we might look back on it as two points lost. Doing so well away from home is really positive.

"We have got Celtic tomorrow night and the result against Hearts gives us a bit more belief and confidence that we can go and put on a performance, hurt them and try and get points against them."

Hamilton may have been outstanding for Hearts at the weekend, but Edwards, who has netted just once in the 2016/17 campaign, knows their play in the final third must be sharper to get a result against Celtic.

"You can look at the Hearts game two ways," he said. "Were our shooting boots off? Are was their keeper good? He was the Man of the Match for me so I know what I think. His shot stopping was very good.

But, having said that, we have to put our chances away, especially in one-on-one situations.

"I am reasonably pleased with how I have been doing. I have been involved in the team and am making a contribution to the team. I just need to score some more goals.

"One of my shots is going to go in eventually. If you don't shoot, you don't score. But I am happy with my overall performance levels.

"It is obviously going to be very difficult to go to Parkhead. It will be a different game from the last one. They are in very good form. They have stepped it up to another level this season.

"But we have recovered from our exertions against Hearts and have analysed their last couple of games to see how. We want to rectify what happened in the last game when we lost 4-1 and conceded some sloppy goals. We will try to do our best to get a result against Celtic.

"Sometimes football is just about the break of the ball. Callum Booth had that shot off the bar. It could have fallen to any one of us. Unfortunately, it just bounced the other way.

"It seems that when it is the other team the ball hits the bar, falls to their feet and they have a tap in. But we need to earn our luck. But if we keep playing the way we are the break of the ball will fall for us."
