GORDON (7): One early save from Jason Holt and another block from Holt after Rangers had opened the scoring. Under pressure in the opening 30 min but got a breather as Celtic took a grip of the second half. Would have been relieved to see Kenny Miller’s late shot come off a post.

LUSTIG (7): Spooked by the quick feet of Barrie McKay and was booked for almost hauling the shirt off the winger’s back in the second period. First in the stadium to celebrate when he was given the nod that the whistle was about to go.

SIMUNOVIC (7): One cracking ball out to James Forrest on the flank from inside his own half in the first period. Booked for a late tackle on McKay on cusp of the break but relatively solid showing from the young Croatian.

SVIATCHENKO (7): Culpable in the build-up to the opening goal. Botched pass across the edge of the penalty box that was seized upon by Kenny Miller and ultimately led to Rangers scoring. Recovered his composure in the second period and redeemed himself somewhat with a timely challenge on Forrester in in the latter stages.

IZAGUIRRE (7): Came more into the game in the second period when Celtic dominated proceedings. Fantastic stamina to get up and down the flank and some fine deliveries into the box which could have reaped further goals for the Parkhead side.

FORREST (7): Burst into box early in the second period but his shot was saved by Foderingham. Took a while to get into the game but another whose influence grew as Celtic got control of the game. Replaced by Patrick Roberts just after the hour mark.

MCGREGOR (7): A tough opening 20 minutes as Rangers came racing out of the traps but was solid in terms of keeping possession and bringing others into play. Imposed himself on the game and will be pleased with his contribution.

BROWN (8): First player into the book after crunching tackle on James Tavernier. One ball passed out of play as he lost composure in a frantic early opening period but far more composed in the second period. Loves the cut and thrust of it all as his brief parade atop the side hoardings showed after his momentum had carried him over them.

ARMSTRONG (8): Has grown into this Celtic team to become one of the leaders in it. On the backfoot in early stages but got himself into the game and deserved a goal for the manner of his work rate and endeavour. Two cracking chances to find the net himself but set up what was the winning goal for Scott Sinclair.

SINCLAIR (9): A constant threat on the flank and hit the post before finally finding the net with the winning goal in the second period. Provided the cross from which Moussa Dembele’s opener came too. Excellent all round performance.

DEMBELE (9): Quiet until his opening goal when, inexplicably, he was allowed acres of space to collect Sinclair’s corner and thump his effort high into the net for his five goal against Rangers this season. Was denied a second by the crossbar in the second period.

ROBERTS (6): On for Forrest and immediate impression with hand in setting up the second goal. His vision in shipping the ball out to Armstrong was the catalyst for Celtic to get their crucial second.

BITTON (4): On for McGregor with five minutes to go as Celtic ensured they saw the game out.
