RANGERS striker Kenny Miller admitted their 4-0 defeat by RB Leipzig could have been even worse - but he declared the friendly a worthwhile learning exercise.

The Bundesliga title challengers were comfortable winners in Sunday's encounter in Germany, which was attended by about 8,000 Rangers fans. Scotland winger Oliver Burke was among the goalscorers and Matt Gilks made some good saves for the visitors.

Miller feels the challenge was a good warm-up for Rangers' William Hill Scottish Cup fourth-round tie against Motherwell at Ibrox on Saturday.

The forward told Rangers TV: "It was very, very good. They are a very good team, and that's why they are sitting second in the Bundesliga at the moment.

"It was a really good test for us which we knew it would be, although we are clearly disappointed with the result as we always look to try and get something from the game, but I think the lessons to be learned are if we are a bit loose and sloppy on the ball as we were, we are going to be punished at this level.

"Had it not been for a few saves - really good saves from Gillo at the end of the game - then it could have been a few more. On the flip-side of that, we had opportunities to put people through on goal which we never maximised. They maximised them because they have got the quality, and they punished us for our sloppiness."

Miller added: "We have a cup tie next week and then back into league action with Motherwell back-to-back. It's important without sounding repetitive that we do learn.

"This is why we took a game like this - to learn against top-class opposition which is what they are, and they did punish us. Now we have to go back in, see how they punished us, see how we were sloppy, and try to eradicate from our game."
