New Buddie Josh Todd is ready to get down to work after his dream of going full-time came true at St Mirren.

Just a month on from leaving fellow Championship side Dumbarton, the midfielder put pen to paper on a deal until the end of the season with a further year option on top.

The former Carlisle trainee spent almost three years at Annan before arriving at the rock, and the 22-year Englishman is relishing the prospect of becoming a Saint at St Mirren.

He said: "I'm really excited. It's been one of my goals for a few years and St Mirren's a massive club. I just want to do all I can to help the club and going from part-time to full-time was a big part of the decision.

"I'm relieved because it's taken a few days. I'd have liked to have been involved at the weekend against Dunfermline if I was chosen.

"But it's good to have gotten 90 minutes [in a development game against Aberdeen] and I'm going to be onboard and giving my all until the end of the season."

Todd has promised to bring energy to the heart of Jack Ross' St Mirren team as they attempt to climb clear of the Championship drop zone.

The Paisley club are currently seven points adrift of fellow strugglers Ayr United at the bottom of the pile ahead of this weekend's William Hill Scottish Cup fourth round distraction away to Dundee.

Now with a development league game already under his belt, Todd is targeting more time on the pitch and black and white going into a critical period for his new club.

While he is keen to kick on personally, he has underlined his priority is to do all he can to keep St Mirren in the Championship.

He told the St Mirren website: "I've played a lot of games in my time at Dumbarton. I'm a bit older now, I've got a bit more maturity and I've picked up around 20 league appearances and hopefully that can help my hit the ground running and start enjoying my football.

"I'm quite a fit boy and I like to run in behind and he [Ross] wanted a few players who could stretch the game.

"He had a look at me in training and said I was the type that he could see long term at the club with my age. I'm going to give it my all and I'm just glad to be onboard. Full-time football is my goal and I'm not going to rest on my laurels.

"I've been in training and I can tell by the way we train that the boys are more than capable."

Meanwhile, St Mirren's board announced yesterday that they will be subsidising part of the cost of the four official supporters club buses travelling to Dens Park on Saturday.

A statement from the club said: "Saints face Paul Hartley's side in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup at Dens Park this weekend and the club is keen to repay supporters for their loyalty throughout this season.

"We hope that the gesture will help see a strong travelling support back the Buds as we look to try and continue our good form in cup competitions this season."

Chairman Gordon Scott added: "Supporters are the lifeblood of this club and we are delighted to be giving something back to them.

"Their support really does matter to the management and players and is never taken for granted. Attending away matches is a huge commitment for fans and we hope this will entice as many as possible to make the journey."
