GLASGOW WARRIORS and Scotland prop Ryan Grant has joined English Premiership outfit Worcester Warriors with immediate effect.

The loosehead, who was a member of the British and Irish Lions squad that toured Australia in 2013, departs Scotstoun after seven years at the club.

Grant made over 100 appearances for the Warriors, clocking up 25 international caps in the process and claiming a Pro 12 winners' medal in 2015.

“I’ve had a lot of good times at Glasgow and made a lot of friends," he told glasgowwarriors.org.

"Winning the Guinness PRO12 was huge, the back-to-back wins against Ulster in the lead up to the final were also a highlight for me.

“I wouldn’t have ever played for Scotland or been selected for the Lions had it not been for Glasgow Warriors.

“I owe a great deal to the club and the coaches, Sean Lineen, Shade Munro, Gregor Townsend and Dan McFarland. The success in my career are down to the things I have learned and the experiences I’ve had at Glasgow.

“I’ll always have a spot for Glasgow in my heart. Some of my best friends still play for this club and as far as I’m concerned when I look back at my career I’ll always be a Glasgow Warrior.

“A change in circumstances and a change in surroundings might be what I need to get back to my best again."

In further transfer news, Glasgow have announced that tight-head prop Sila Puafisi will depart at the end of the season to join Brive in France.

The Tonga international will leave after making 35 appearances to date since joining the club in 2015.

Warriors also confirmed on Wednesday that prop Jarrod Firth has left to join a French club and USA international Langilangi Haupeakui has returned to his home country for family reasons.

Head coach Gregor Townsend said: “Ryan (Grant) has been a big part of the club for the last seven years and is a popular figure amongst our squad and our supporters.

“I’d like to wish Ryan (Grant), Jarrod (Firth) and Langilangi (Haupeakui) all the best for the future.

“Sila (Puafisi) is with us until the end of the season, so we’re looking forward to seeing him continue to play a key role over the next few months.”
