JASON HOLT is confident Rangers will rise to the challenge and emerge from their slump to clinch second spot in the Premiership.

Mark Warburton’s side were held to a 1-1 draw by Ross County on Saturday as Aberdeen moved ahead of them in the race for the best of the rest spot this term.

After crashing to a comprehensive defeat to Hearts in midweek, Rangers couldn’t respond as Lee Wallace cancelled out Alex Schalk’s strike for the Staggies.

But Holt believes the Light Blues squad have what it takes to regroup and go again as they attempt to finish the campaign on a high note.

He said: “The past two games have been disappointing results so he (Warburton) has shared our emotions as players.

“We know what's required and if we have not hit those marks, then we know that as a group of players, staff management.

“We all go through it together. We share the same emotions.

"We've said before we win together and lose together. We go through the good times and the bad times together - there is no pointing fingers at anyone.

"The past two results have been poor, but that's down to the players and we have a challenge on our hands now to go and change that.

"It (dropping to third in the table) doesn't change anything for us. We still know what is required and it's up to us to change that. Only us as players can do that.

"We are always confident as a group. It's down to us. We will rise to the challenge and change it. We'll come out stronger."

After returning to action from the winter break with successive wins over Motherwell, the spotlight is now on Warburton and his players after two poor performances.

County could have been further ahead before Wallace levelled the game but there was no late winner for the Light Blues as more points were squandered.

Holt said: "It was massively frustrating and disappointing. I thought we played well, especially in the second half where we created chances. But it's really disappointing.

"We spoke a while ago about a lack of consistency, but then we went on a wee run and notched up some wins. The past two results have been massively disappointing and it's up to us to change that.

"With the size of Rangers the club, the expectation is there and Rangers as a club need to rise to that. We need to go and show on the pitch what we are capable of.

"It's up to the players to step up to the mark and do what's required for us. I think every player is well equipped to come and play at this club.

“The expectation levels are high and quite rightly so. So it's down to us as players to cope with it."
