GORDON (6): Had two decent stops in the opening half but could have watched the second period from the stand he had so little to do.

LUSTIG (7): Constantly overlapping and getting forward. Couple of timely deliveries into the box and the only shock of the day was that Celtic didn’t score more given the sheet amount of possession they had.

BOYATA (7): Looks very comfortable and growing in confidence with each week he remains in the team. An interesting dynamic going on with Rodgers suddenly keen to test what had looked like an established defensive pairing on Erik Sviatchenko and Simunovic.

SIMUNOVIC (7): The Croatian strolled through the encounter and looks another who could develop into a fine prospect for Celtic. Very little to test him defensively against Motherwell and barely broke sweat. Both he and Boyata have more pace than Sviatchenko.

TIERNEY (7): Took a terrible challenge on the knee from Motherwell’s Ryan Bowman who could easily have been red-carded for the offence. Rodgers said afterwards he thought the pitch had a hand in the tackle but it was a poor one. Tierney looked worse for wear although no real lasting damage was the biggest surprise.

FORREST (8): Didn’t take the sponsors’ man of the match award but the best player on the park. Left former Celtic kid Joe Chalmers chasing shadows when he cut him out to score Celtic’s second goal. Also set up a number of good opportunities for Sinclair and Dembele.

HENDERSON (6): Lasted until the break after getting another start but didn’t quite manage to establish himself on the game. Wasn’t a huge surprise when he was replaced at the interval.

BITTON (7): The Israeli’s bleached hair made him an obvious stand-out and his performance was relatively assured. Seemed like a given not so long ago that he would move on from Celtic but seems to have shown something that Rodgers has liked in recent weeks as he has covered for the injured Stuart Armstrong.

BROWN (7): Usual shift from the Celtic captain who has been one of the best performers for the Parkhead side this season. Tenacious and constantly keeping the focus of those around him.

SINCLAIR (7): Uncharacteristically profligate. Had a number of chances to score but blazed over on one occasion and scorned another few, especially in the second period. Still, his running always creates problems for opposition defences.

DEMBELE (7): Calm and composed as always. Sent Craig Samson the wrong way when he comverted Celtic’s penalty deep into the opening half and then set up the second goal of the day with an intelligent pass to play in Forrest.

ARMSTRONG (6): Back after a month sidelined with a hamstring injury. Will take a few games for the player to find his feet again but offered energy and industry in the middle of the park when he came on at the break.

MCGREGOR (5): On in the second period but not enough time to make a compelling impact on the game.
