Morton midfielder Ross Forbes feels he is having the season of his life after he continued his fine form with a goal and an assist against Falkirk.

Forbes set up Thomas O’Ware for Morton’s opener before putting away their second in a 2-2 draw with the Bairns at Cappielow on Saturday.

That makes it eleven goals for the campaign for Forbes, but he isn’t about to rest on his laurels and be satisfied with his tally.

“It’s probably the best form I’ve been in since I first came through at Motherwell,” Forbes said.

“It’s the most goals I’ve scored in a season and the most assists too, so it is definitely one of the best seasons in my career so far.

“I’m playing off the right-hand side now and a bit further forward, and obviously, that means there are more opportunities for me and I’ve been able to take them at the right time.

“I need to keep it up though until the end of the season, there’s no point in stopping here and being satisfied with what I’ve done, the league still has a long way to go.”

It perhaps shows how far Morton have come this season that they weren’t happy with their performance in the draw with perennial play-off contenders Falkirk.

“We were a wee bit disappointed not to get the three points, but in the end a draw was probably a fair result,” said Forbes.

“Both teams had their share of the game, and Falkirk missed a few chances at the start for the second half so we could have been behind then, but I’d say a point apiece was just about right.

“I think we have shown that we fully deserve to be up there in the playoff places and obviously the points total we have shows it too.

“We’ve improved from last year when we finished on 43 points, we’re already on 41 with 12 games to go so that shows a massive improvement.

“We are working hard every day to try and keep that advantage we have over Queen of the South. You don’t want to fall flat on your face after such a good season, and we’re determined not to allow that to happen.”
