HIBERNIAN have confirmed the signings of Celtic defender Efe Ambrose and free agent Brian McLean.

Nigeria international Ambrose has penned a short-term deal at Easter Road after falling out of favour under Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers this season.

The 28-year-old willl remain with Neil Lennon's side until the end of the season, when his contract with Celtic expires.

The Championship leaders have also brought in former Motherwell, Falkirk, Dundee United and Ross County defender McLean for the rest of the season after a short spell with Singapore S. League outfit Brunei DPMM.

“We were a little bit light on bodies in the central defensive position at the minute and bringing in Efe and Brian will fill that void," said Hibs manager Neil Lennon.

“Both have fantastic experience in domestic football here in Scotland, as well as abroad. I know what qualities each of them possess and they will help to bolster the squad as we strive to achieve our goals this campaign.”

Both will be eligible to feature for the Hibees in Wednesday's Ladbrokes Championship trip to St Mirren
