Celtic have been so far ahead of everybody this season and it’s hard to see anything but another win for them against Rangers on Sunday, as much as it pains me to say it.

I just don’t see Rangers winning, Celtic are too strong in every area, and I fear they may be victorious by two or three goals.

I don’t think there will even be too many Rangers fans who, deep down, believe that their team can get a result.

The players will be going out there with nothing to lose, but if both teams play to their best then there will only be one winner, because Celtic have the better players.

All that can be asked of the Rangers players is that they go out there and work their socks off for the cause, and that’s what they have been doing for Graeme Murty in the last couple of games to be fair.

They’ve shown a bit of bottle, and a bit of grit and determination. If they do that again on Sunday and it’s good enough to get a result then great, but if it isn’t then at least you can’t complain too much.

Look at the St Johnstone game. That was a game that Rangers wouldn’t have won a couple of months ago, so it shows that there is a bit of spirit about the players just now.

That’s not to say the game is a write-off from a Rangers perspective. It is a good opportunity for Pedro Caixinha to take a watching brief, because this is the sort of game that reveals what kind of characters you have within a dressing room.

He will know that Rangers at this moment in time are miles behind Celtic. What the manager will want to see though is players who are prepared to go to Celtic and put up a good fight and turn in a performance to make him believe they are worthy of the jersey.

He will be able to see who is good enough for the longer-term challenges ahead playing against by far the best team in Scotland, and then he can gauge after that 90 minutes how good or bad a side that he has inherited.

He will also be able to take a close look at Celtic and see what may be required if he is to have any designs on winning the league within the next two or three years.
