I can see why people are suggesting that the time has come for one or two of the Celtic players to be given a rest, but I don’t think we will see too much tinkering by Brendan Rodgers until the title is confirmed.

Even then, I don’t think that the manager should change too much, and I don’t think he will, because in my view the record of going through the season unbeaten is one that both he and the players will be desperate to achieve.

I am aware that the treble of course takes priority, but even though you can see that some of the players may look tired at the moment, I don’t have any worries about them being able to handle the workload until the end of the season.

Moussa Dembele has been an absolute sensation this season, and there is no doubt that in recent games he has gone off the boil a bit from the high standards he has set, but that is going to happen with all young players.

He has shown himself to be a man for the big occasion, and I have no doubt that he will be primed and ready for the Scottish Cup semi-final when it comes around.

In fact, I am confident that all of the players will be able to raise their game again for that one, because there is so much riding on the game for the club and the squad.

The draw that Rangers earned in the last match between the sides was a little reminder for Celtic that if they are not totally at it, then the Ibrox side can cause them problems.

That game probably had more riding on it from a Rangers perspective though, and you could tell that by the celebrations at the end even though they had only drawn the game.

With the treble at stake, this game will take care of itself in terms of the motivation of the players, and tiredness won’t be an issue.

Trust me, there will be no heavy legs on show in green and white on that day, and I fully expect that you will see the gap between the sides show once again.
