JOHN BROWN is confident Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha has the winning mentality required to be a success at Ibrox.

The Portuguese got his Light Blues reign off to a perfect start against Hamilton last weekend as the Gers eased to a comfortable 4-0 Premiership triumph.

Caixinha will take charge for the second time when his side face Motherwell on Saturday in another must-win encounter if Rangers are to keep alive their hopes of finishing ahead of Aberdeen this term.

And nine-in-a-row legend Brown reckons the 46-year-old is building on solid foundations as he settles into life at Ibrox.

He told RangersTV: “He wants to succeed and he needs people round about him to tell him and let him understand about Scottish football and the way the game is played, and the feelings that are against Rangers.

“I think he’s very ambitious. I’m sure the knowledge he’s picked up when he’s travelled around a number of countries, he’ll want to put that into practice here and I think he’s got that bit between the teeth that he wants to be successful.

“And if he is successful at Rangers the Rangers fans will love him forever more.

“I think he has been working on the fitness. To be fair to Graeme Murty you’ve seen a difference in attitude with the players after he came in, and I think Pedro has come in there, a great reception he has got from the Rangers fans, and he put out a team and they worked hard.

“There is a lot of work to do but it was nice to see balls getting played into the strikers’ feet when they are around about the defensive 18-yard box of the opposition and linking up for the first goal.

“So it’s something we’ve not really created this season in areas that are going to hurt defenders.

I think that is a plus but I thought we were better organised at the back and given time and given the resources to improve the squad going into next season, I think it will be a wise decision by the club.”
