Striker Aitchison has already had a taste of first team action under boss Rodgers and O’Halloran reckons he is the inspiration for the rest of the Lennoxtown hopefuls.
He said: “There are a number of the boys that have trained with the first team and a few that have played for the Development Squad.
“They are accustomed to being there in the first team environment, which is good.
“Jack has been there and he is the recognised player that has played first team. That is the ultimate goal for the boys, to get in the first team and that is what development is about.
“I am delighted. This is the fourth year that we have won the Glasgow Cup and I believe it is the first goal that we have lost.
“This is the icing on the cake and a bonus for us. Ultimately our boys is to try and push the boys on as far as they can.
“First team is the ultimate for them. We have got a manager who is very pro youth.
“He wants to promote the young players, he wants to see them getting into the first team so hopefully there is an opportunity for a few of them to at the least go back up and train with them again.”
Boss Rodgers was in the Firhill stand to see his Celtic colts emerge victorious as they added another piece of silverware to the Parkhead trophy cabinet.
The Hoops dominated the opening exchanges and were perhaps unfortunate to be level at the break after Matthew Shiels netted for Rangers.
Aitchison hit the winner in the dying stages and boss O’Halloran was pleased with an accomplished performance from his kids.
He said: “I am absolutely chuffed. The boys have worked hard and I thought we deserved it, we edged it.
“We had a few moments in the game when Rangers were on top but we weathered it and we were deserved winners.
“The good thing is that we created a lot of chances and that is something we have worked on over the last couple of weeks in the build-up to the game.
“We created good chances and unfortunately we didn’t take them. That could have made the game a bit more comfortable for us.
“We kept going and kept going and even when we lost the goal we have got the guts, the determination and the character to go and fight back and get the winning goal.”
