THE fixture list for the 2017/18 Scottish football season will be released on Friday 23 June, the Scottish Professional Football League has announced.

Full details of the Premiership, Championship, League One and League Two schedules will be published on that date ahead of the new season kicking off on Saturday 5 August.

SPFL Chief Executive Neil Doncaster said: “The announcement of league fixtures for a new Scottish football season is the most keenly anticipated moment of the off-season and this year will be no different.

“While there is still plenty of drama to unfold this season, we’re pleased to be able to advise clubs and supporters of this key date ahead of the next league campaign, adding to the positive news of Ladbrokes’ continued support for Scottish football.”

In further news, the SPFL revealed that the draw for next season's Betfred Cup group stage will be staged on Friday 2 June.

The competition was altered to use a different format this season, beginning in July with eight groups of five teams.

Celtic lifted the trophy this term, beating Aberdeen 3-0 in November's final at Hampden Park.

“We’re very pleased to be able to confirm that the Group Stage draw of the 2017 Betfred Cup will take place on Friday, 2 June, a date for clubs and supporters to really look forward to," Doncaster added.

“The first year of the new format was universally popular and with 80 Group Stage matches to be enjoyed during the summer it is the perfect way to kick off another Scottish football season of entertainment, excitement and drama.”
