I think that Aberdeen is the hardest opponent that Celtic could have drawn in the William Hill Scottish Cup final.

Without a shadow of a doubt the final will be contested by the two best teams in the country.

It also gives an added edge to that Friday night game up at Pittodrie in a fortnight’s time.

I would expect Derek McInnes to use that game as a chance to put down a marker against Celtic and to show that Aberdeen believe themselves capable of going and causing an upset.

Of course, the very same applies to Celtic who will look to leave their own mark on the encounter.

If the unbeaten run is still going then that will be a tough venue for them to go and preserve.

I have to say, though, that I do believe now at this stage of the season that Celtic are capable of going and making a bit of history by going unbeaten.

I just think there is a relentlessness and a hunger about the side now. They have consistently maintained an even keel throughout the season and so much of the credit has to go to the manager for that.

He has been nothing short of outstanding in the brief time that he has been at the helm of the club. We have seen players revitalised and the entire tone of the season was set by qualification for the group stages of the UEFA Champions League.

That pressure will start to build again now over the summer but for the time being there is business to attend to over these next few weeks.
