Rangers sucker-punched Partick Thistle for the second time at Firhill this season as they came from behind to snatch a win with two late, late goals at Firhill this afternoon.

Kris Doolan put Thistle ahead early on, but Rangers managed to claw themselves level as Barrie McKay climbed off the bench to grab a late equaliser.

The drama wasn’t finished there though, as a fine run by Kenny Miller in the dying seconds allowed him to pick out Joe Garner to head home a stunning winner.

Rangers started brightly, and Garner thought he had nicked a Joe Dodoo cross in at the near post, only to realise moments later that it was the side net that was rippling.

It was Thistle who hit the front though with a brilliantly executed counter attack. A high clearance was killed by Doolan before he fed Stevie Lawless on the left.

The midfielder skipped past James Tavernier before spreading the ball wide to the on-rushing Christie Elliott. The right-back got his head up and curled in a beautiful ball to the near post, where Doolan had made up the ground to bullet home a diving header.

It might have been two soon after as Rangers failed to deal with a set-piece into the area, and Abdul Osman helped a cross back in for Niall Keown to glance over ahead of Wes Foderingham, the centre-back just getting too much on his connection.

It really should have been two moments later as the visiting defence was all over the place again, the ball eventually falling for Ryan Edwards right in front of goal after Rangers failed to clear a Callum Booth cross, and Foderingham pulling off the save from point-blank range. The Australian will feel though that he should have scored.

Joe Dodoo then should have done better when latching onto a Garner header as Rangers got some respite at the other end, but the wide-man dithered to allow Niall Keown to get across and clear.

Thistle saw the rest of the half out comfortably, with some harsh words sure to have been exchanged between Pedro Caixinha and his players at the interval.

There wasn’t much by way of a response though, with the loudest cheer of the second period reserved for Martyn Waghorn making way for Clint Hill as Rangers went to a back three.

Tomas Cerny did well to dive at the feet of Miller to deny the Rangers captain soon after, before Doolan might have done better with a header from an Elliott cross at the other end after Danny Wilson had slipped to leave him unmarked.

Rangers looked more threatening for a period as it took Thistle a little while to get to grips with the tactical reshuffle, but once the home side readjusted they looked comfortable again.

Foderingham had to look sharp to tip a Stevie Lawless header over in fact, and it looked as though the home side would see the afternoon out in relative comfort.

That was until the introduction of McKay for the visitors, who was thrown on in a last-ditch bid to salvage the game for Rangers and duly delivered to drag his side level with seven minutes remaining.

The winger collected a kick-out from Foderingham on the left and came inside, slipping through the challenges of Elliott and Lindsay before keeping his cool to pass the ball beyond Cerny in the Thistle goal.

The home side must have been fearing a repeat of Rangers’ last visit to Maryhill, and they were right to.

In the dying seconds of injury-time, Tavernier went on a run down the right before feeding the ball inside to Miller, who went on a mazy run past several desperate challenges before hitting the byline.

He lifted his head to pick out Garner, who did well to steer the ball past Cerny with a guided header into the corner and make sure that Thistle end the season as the only side in the Premiership not to take points from Rangers.
